Which Are The Easiest And The Hardest Phones To Fix?

Not all phones are created equally and that goes doubly true for trying to fix them, so which are the easiest and which are the hardest phones to try and mend yourself?

Although, even for the ‘easy’ phones, we recommend you bring them to our service repair center in Edmonton!

    THE DREAM TEAM FOR GEEKS

    THE LG G5

    8.5 OUT OF TEN

Our team of experts rated the LG 5 the easiest phone to fix that they worked on in 2016. So if you own one of these and find yourself needing to fix it, you are in luck!

Although as a professional repair center, www.irepairedmonton.ca does not advise that members of the public try their own repairs, if you were going to have a go at doing it yourself, this would probably be the easiest model to try.

This is because the battery was very easy to remove, compared to some other models, where is can actually be one of the hardest things to attempt.

There are also modular components in the LG 5, making it easier to repair than some others.

Our testers scored it 8.5 out of ten, for ease of repairing.

THE GOOGLE PIXEL AND PIXEL XL

    7.5 OUT OF TEN

Just edging ahead of the iPhone in the repair-a-bility stakes, is the Google Pixel.

This highly desirable phone scored highly, for the ability to fix its internal components – the inside is fairly modular compared to some phones.

However, it lost points for being rather difficult to actually get open without accidentally damaging the screen.

For this reason, although our testers were savvy enough to get the thing open without any big problems, we would not advise our customers to try and take this thing apart at home. It is more than likely to end in disaster for the uninitiated.

APPLE IPHONE 7 AND IPHONE 7 PLUS

    7 OUT OF TEN

For replacing a battery or a screen, our technical gurus thought that both incarnations of the iPhone 7, including the iPhone 7 Plus were fairly straightforward to repair. This is straightforward for an expert to fix we must remind you. But all the same, it should give some sort of idea as to how easy or hard this would be for the amateur repair person to attempt for themselves.

    APPLE IPHONE SE

    6.5 OUT OF TEN

Once again, this as a repair was not too difficult for our experienced staff to take apart. But as we have mentioned before, what is easy for someone with a lot of experience and a complete range of tools at their disposal, is not the same for someone attempting a repair for the first time at home.

Our experts thought that the battery was fairly straightforward to replace, as was the screen. However, they advised caution when moving the Touch iD cable, it could quite easily break!

    THE HARDEST PHONE TO FIX

Sadly, not all phones are as straightforward to fix as the first few on our list.

Even our team of experts expressed frustration at attempting to repair some models…

This was the winner of the dubious title “hardest phone to fix”!

    THE SAMSUNG NOTE 7

    4 OUT OF TEN

Our reviewers said they were being quite generous awarding the Samsung Note 7 even a four out of ten. This was because, despite a few modular typed components, this was a really hard phone to fix due to being very tricky to get open in the first place. Additionally, the battery did not seem to want to come out.

Unfortunately, there is more woe for Samsung with regard to batteries, as this model has also been recalled due to battery problems. And by problems, we mean problems of the explosive kind!

Although our experts are happy to attempt to repair them, we strongly advise that members of the public do not try and do anything with this particular phone model!!
